About NoteDraft

NoteDraft is a free place to take notes, with a sketch pad beside it for when words are not enough. Both run inside your browser and open ready to use. There is no account to create unless you want your notes on more than one device.

Why it works this way

Most free online tools are free because you are the product: you sign up, your files live on someone else's server, and the business model arrives later. NoteDraft is built the other way round. Your notes live in your browser, so there is nothing to sign in to, nothing to leak, and no ongoing cost that has to be recovered from you.

The trade-off is that notes kept in one browser do not follow you to another device. If you want them to, create a free account: sign in with your email or Google and your notes sync to every device where you sign in. It is optional, and the privacy policy says exactly what it stores.

The tools

Where your work is kept

Notes and drawings are stored in your browser on the device you are using. They survive closing the tab and restarting the computer, but they are not indestructible — clearing browsing data removes them, and Safari clears unused site storage after about seven days of not visiting.

For anything you care about, download it — a note as Markdown or text from the ⋯ menu, a drawing as PNG, SVG or a scene file. That copy is yours, works offline forever, and does not depend on this site continuing to exist.

What it costs

Nothing. There is no paid tier, no trial and no feature held back. The site may carry advertising to cover its costs: beside and below the notepad and in the guides, never inside a note or on the drawing canvas, and never on a page displaying someone's shared note.

Built with

NoteDraft is a static site — HTML, CSS and JavaScript served from a CDN, with no backend at all. Notes are edited with Lexical and drawn shapes rendered with Rough.js, entirely in the browser, which is why opening a file or pasting a screenshot never involves sending it anywhere.
